Rocky Rochon
Owner
"Rocky focuses way beyond the aesthetic –- whether it’s for his design services, his paint and furnishings lines, or his studio of collected décor pieces. His process has always involved helping people dig deep, think about process, consider what problem is at hand to solve, and then solving that problem -- his biggest takeaway from his studies of interior design and interior architecture at University of Washington. Fortunately, it’s also how his mind naturally works."
For Rocky’s process-oriented mind, it is Metamerism, the science of the reflection of light and its impact on how color is defined, that is one of the most foremost aspects that guides his approach to The Paint Laboratory. Jon Haaland
Manager and Sr. Colorist
Jon is a pacific Northwest artist/designer, who moved to Seattle in 1990 to attend Cornish College of the Arts. In 1996 he was appointed lead designer for SJW Studios, a hand painted wallcovering line. There he had the opportunity to collaborate with area artist Steve Jensen, developing custom wallcovering lines. Working hand in hand with interior designers from around the country, Jon has created a wide variety of fantastic wallcoverings for a wide variety of projects. His work has appeared in Elle Decor, Southern Living, and Architectural Digest.
In the meantime, Jon and his wife, Tracy, launched a one-of-a-kind, hand-made, leather handbag company called Chemical Wedding. They have been carried by the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Portland Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum. When not working, Jon is in his studio working on abstract photographs that blur the line of reality, and working on a series of gallery shows of my “Earthworks” series of mixed media work exploring earth as media as relates to our action/inaction.
Jon is a fantastic colorist with decades of custom color experience and an incredible eye for detail. As well as being the manager and master colorist of our "flagship" store, Jon also provides on-site Color Consultation services by request.
