Special Finishes
Finish is more than color
Metallic, Lime, Suede and Patina change the surface itself. Light, texture, application and material become part of the result, so each is treated as a complete finish system rather than a decorative color added at the end.
MetallicPearlescent movement for walls, casework, exterior surfaces and prepared metal.
LimeDead-flat tonal bloom with the character of traditional limewash.
SuedeSoft, dead-flat walls with restrained directional brush texture.
Patina
Real copper and iron infused coatings aged through a reactive process.
Choose the finish
Start with the effect you want
The right finish depends on how much movement, texture and surface change the project should have, as well as where and how it will be applied.
FinishAppearanceTypical useApplication
MetallicPearlescent, light responsive and available from subtle to strongly metallic.Walls, ceilings, casework, exteriors and prepared metal.Roll, brush or spray depending on the intended movement.
LimeDead flat with lighter and darker bloom developing as the paint dries.Interior architectural walls where tonal movement is wanted.Roll, then work the wet surface with a trowel.
SuedeSoft dead-flat surface with visible but restrained directional texture.Interior walls in residential and commercial spaces.Roll, then back brush wet in a controlled crosshatch.
PatinaAuthentically oxidized copper or iron with natural reactive variation.Architectural features, large surfaces and compatible prepared substrates.Paint, burnish, chemically patina, then seal.
Painted, not printed
Sample the actual finish
Specialty finishes are especially difficult to judge from a screen. Reflectivity, texture, bloom, application and changing light can all alter what the surface looks like.
Use a physical Brushout for finish review or a Test Pot when the application itself needs to be tested on the intended substrate.
